May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and I have had a several scares myself. I’ve had moles removed, which were probably the result of too much tanning in a booth. I’m now protecting my skin for anti aging and health reason, and going the spray tan route. Here are some helpful hints on how to stay safe this summer…
Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths
Use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day
Apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply every two hours
Cover up with clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses.Examine your skin head-to-toe every month.

Ingredients: 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil1 Tablespoon Shea Butter1/2 Teaspoon Jojoba Oil1/2 Teaspoon Aloe Vera Gel2 Teaspoons Titanium Dioxide
Mix all the oils and butters together then stir in the titanium dioxide. The mixture may become runny when you add the TD but it will set up overnight. Store in a tightly covered container. This has the consistency of butter at room temperature. Keep in the refrigerator during the summer months if your house is warm as the coconut oil will become liquid at around 75 degrees.


  1. I am so glad you are being proactive. I have never heard of your recipe but I have bookmarked It and will give it a try later this year. I truly wish I had been more careful because I have learned since my “wild” youth damage to your skin can come from one bad sunburn. Protect Bella even more!
